ITHACA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team lost a 207-80decision at Ithaca College on Saturday in the Saxons' final dual meet of the season.
Juniors
Zac Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint), Dave Coombes (Dansville, NY/Dansville), and
Joe Rogers (Dublin, NH) were individual winners for the Saxons (3-4) in individual events. Toth won the 100 butterfly (53.02) and 200 butterfly (2:00.60) and also took second in the 200 backstroke (2:03.49). Coombes won the 100 freestyle (48.53) and also took second in the 200 free (1:47.038 seconds) and Rogers took the 500 freestyle (5:04.25).
Other to performers for the Saxons were: senior
Pete Sowinski (Akron, NY/Akron), third in the 200 free (1:48.21); junior
David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port), second in the 50 free (21.97); and sophomore
Jake Olson (Dansville, NY/Dansville), third in the 100 backstroke (58.03).
Luke, Toth, Coombes and Sowinski took second in the 200 free relay (1:26.85).
AU is in action next at the Empire 8 Conference/Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association (UNYSCSA) championships, Feb. 19-22, at Ithaca College.
