ELMIRA, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team split a pair of matches played in Elmira on Sunday.
The Saxons dropped a 9-0 decision to Hamilton before rebounding to take a 7-2 victory over Oswego. The Saxons have now played three of four matches during their fall season and are now 2-1.
In the win over Oswego, AU got singles wins from sophomore
Connor Doud (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), 6-2, 6-0 in first singles; senior
Peter Benoit (Gasport, NY/Barker), 6-0, 6-0 in second singles; junior
Michael Graham (Elmira, NY/Southside), 6-2, 6-0 in third singles; freshman
Evan Haskins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North), 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-4), 10-8 in fourth singles; and freshman
Pat Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), 1-6, 6-3, 11-9 in sixth singles.
Doud and Benoit took first doubles, 8-0, while Graham and Haskins took second doubles, 8-3.
The Saxons wrap up their fall season on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at home against Daemen.
