Lady Saxons overpower Express, 3-0

Box Score ALFRED, NY- The Alfred University women's soccer team improved to 4-7 (0-3 Empire 8), with a 3-0 non-conference win over visiting Wells College, Monday evening at Yunevich Stadium.
Junior defender Nicole Lobur (Akron, NY/Akron) opened scoring for the Lady Saxons, netting an unassisted goal within the first 7 minutes of the game. Sophomore Mary Hendee (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) added another goal at the 18th minute, from a ball played by senior defender Martha McGrath (Victor, NY/Victory), boosting Alfred to a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Lobur buried a header served by freshman midfielder Keturah Gordon (Boston, MA/Boston Latin) at the 47th minute to close out scoring for the game, sealing the Alfred win.
For the game, the Lady Saxons held shot (17-4) and corner kick (7-0) advantages over the Express.
Senior goalie Samijo Scheer (Corning, NY/East) made three saves in 80 minutes before junior Alicia Hanes (Vestal, NY/Vestal) took over, making a save in the final 10 minutes of play.
AU resumes Empire 8 play against St. John Fisher on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12 p.m.
