ALFRED, NY — AU senior defensive back Seiji Hinton (Freeport, NY/Freeport) has been named Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Hinton was honored for his play in the Saxons' 39-33 double-overtime win against visiting Buffalo State on Saturday. He had 10 tackles, including three for loss (17 yards) and a sack (11 yards), to go with a forced fumble and an interception.

Alfred plays next on Saturday, Oct.12, at 1 p.m. at Ithaca.
