Smit ended her storied career as a western equestrian rider by earning herself a place in the Top-10 in the country’s High Point Riders over the weekend. She finished ninth overall in the High Point Rider competition at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships in Tryon, NC. She finished 12th in the HPR Open Horsemanship phase and then competed in the High Point Rider Reining phase, jumping her overall points up to finish ninth in the country. Smit also competed in the Team Competition, taking the top finish for the Saxons over the weekend by placing fifth in the Open Reining. She then added a sixth place finish in the Team Open Horsemanship, helping the Saxons secure 10th place as a team.
