ALFRED, NY-- Freshman guard Nick Schmidt (Olean, NY/Olean) has been named AU Male Athlete of the Week following his performance in the season opener against the SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks.

Schmidt played 21 minutes for the Saxons and scored 23 points while shooting 7 of 8 from three-point range (87.7%) and made 2-2 free throws. He added four assists, two rebounds, and two steals in his collegiate debut for the Saxons.

Schmidt and the men's basketball team return to action Wednesday, Nov. 19, when they take on the Well College Express in Aurora, NY at 7PM.
