McKaylee Croll might not have broken any career bests for herself this past weekend against Hartwick College and Stevens Institute of Technology, but she had one of the most memorable games of her career. Having spent 35 minutes of the Friday evening game against Hartwick on the bench, Croll managed to come off it and immediately went to work from 3-point land, taking a total of five shots with two sinking for six points with her last tying the game at 43-43 with 2:46 remaining in the game. After a pair of free throws from teammate, Amanda Off, to take a 45-43 Saxon lead with 1:58 remaining, Hartwick's Caitlin Corbett tied the game back at 45-45 with a jumper with 28 seconds remaining. The Saxons ran the clock down on the following drive and dished the ball to Croll who banked in the 3-pointer from well beyond the arc for the go-ahead win with three seconds remaining in the game. The most memorable 3-pointer of her career snapped a 10-game losing streak for Alfred University, earned the series split with the team that first topped the Saxons by 16 and claimed their first Empire 8 win of the season. Croll finished her short game with a team-tying high of nine points and she added both an offensive and defensive rebound. The next day, she went 4-of-6 (66.7%) from beyond the arc, added another field goal and was 4-of-8 (50.0%) from the free throw line for 18 points against the Empire 8 undefeated Ducks of Stevens. She repeated her performance under the boards with 1-and-1. She shot 50.0% on field goals and free throws while shooting 58.3% from the arc. It is her second time in her career with a 3-point average in back-to-back games above 50.0% (shot 83.3% against Hartwick and Stevens last season on the weekend of January 30 and 31).
