Amanda Hubbard was appointed head women’s volleyball coach at Alfred University in 2014. She is the first full-time coach in the history of the program.
Hubbard's Saxons earned an American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for having a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher for the 2015-16 academic year. Her 2016 team posted the best overall and Empire 8 record since the 2000 team by going 12-17 and 3-5 in Empire 8 action. Amber Smith '20 was named Alfred University's first ever Co-Rookie of the Year, All-Empire 8 First Team selection as well as ECAC Division III North Women's Volleyball First Team All-Star under Hubbard's tenure.
Hubbard came to AU with prior coaching experience at both the Division III and Division I levels. She served two seasons (2011-12) as an assistant at Division III University of Rochester, and one year (2010) as an assistant at Division I Colgate University. She also served as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, Ithaca College, from 2009-10.

Hubbard was a standout on the Ithaca women’s volleyball team for three seasons (2005-07) after transferring from Division I Binghamton University following the 2004 season. She was the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year in 2006 and was named to the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Championship All-Tournament team all three years with the Bombers. She was also named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-New York Region Team and earned All-American Honorable Mention from the AVCA all three seasons at Ithaca.
She has coached extensively in youth leagues, clinics and camps in the Ithaca and Horseheads (NY) areas, serving one season (2008) as head coach of girls volleyball and two seasons (2008 and 2009) as head coach of boys volleyball at Ithaca High School.
Hubbard earned a Bachelor of Science dual degree in health promotion and physical education from Ithaca College in 2008 and a master’s degree in health education from Ithaca in 2010. A native of Horseheads, NY, Hubbard was a three-time all-state selection during her playing career at Horseheads High School.
