Kjersten?McKinniss joined the Alfred University Athletic Training staff in 2017 as a Graduate Assistant. Kjersten, a native of?Ohio, graduated from Hope College in Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in athletic training. While at Hope, she worked with a variety of sports and clinical settings. In addition to the athletic training courses, she focused part of her studies in dance performance. She was involved in the dance department and a member of H2 Repertory Dance Company for two years, including international performances. Kjersten graduated in spring 2020 with a Master of Science in Education and Certificate of Advanced Study in Mental Health Counseling. Following graduation, she passed the NCE to become a Nationally Certified Counselor.  

As a certified athletic trainer, Kjersten has worked at various youth summer sports camps including Kirk Cousin’s football camps hosted at Hope College.  While at AU, Kjersten has had the opportunity to work specifically with Varsity and JV Football, Women’s Basketball, Track and Field, Swim and Dive, Softball, and the Equestrian Teams. In her three years as a graduate assistant, she was active in the undergraduate Athletic Training Program. Kjersten served as a preceptor for students on clinical rotation and as an adjunct professor. As of Fall 2020, Kjersten continues in her role as a clinical preceptor and has acquired formal teaching responsibilities in her new position as an Assistant AT. She is passionate about working with active individuals to achieve whole body wellness through patient centered care. Kjersten is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA), International Association of Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS), and the American Counseling Association (ACA). She is licensed as an athletic trainer in New York State. 
 
Additionally, Kjersten will join Ron Demchak in sharing the role of Interim Head Athletic Trainer for the Spring of 2021.
