Joe Gonzalez joined the Alfred University men's soccer coaching staff in the Fall of 2019 as a Volunteer Assistant and was named the Assistant Coach in January of 2020.
In 2018, Joe was a captain of the men's soccer team as he transferred in after stints at LeMoyne College and Catawba College. He was a member of the LeMoyne team that made an NCAA playoff appearance and helped Catawba earn a #7 national ranking for Division II. During his year as a Saxon goalkeeper, Joe earned All-Empire 8 Second Team and was a member of the Empire 8 All-Tournament Team as he helped the Saxons finish #2 in conference play. He was a two-time Saxon of the Week and voted as HEROSports National Division III Men's Soccer Goalie HERO of the Week.
Joe is on the Alfred University All-Time Records lists as he had 95 saves in 2018, making him #2 all-time for a single season. He is #5 in all-time career saves. Joe finished the year with three shutout wins over Utica College, Houghton College and The Sage Colleges. Set his career-high in single game saves with 11 against Houghton.
Professionally, Joe was a goalkeeper coach for New York State West ODP and an assistant coach for RFC.
