Charles Hawkins

Charles Hawkins joined the Alfred University men’s soccer staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2020. He assists head coach Tracy Blake in game planning, player development, and recruiting.

Hawkins, a 2020 graduate of Alfred University with a degree in finance with minors in economics and accounting, was a dual student-athlete, competing in soccer and alpine skiing. After walking on as a first-year student after the 2016 season, Hawkins became a mainstay in the Saxon midfield, playing in 50 games with a career total of 2,796 minutes of field time. He scored his first career goal in 2018 vs. Mount St. Mary and finished his final season with a goal and an assist. His lone collegiate assist proved to be the turning point of the 2019 season; he assisted on a Justin Eaton goal that preserved a 2-1 Empire 8 victory over Houghton, leading to a 4-1-1 mark, en route to a spot in the Empire 8 Championship game.

As a competitive skier, Hawkins was the program’s top skier in his final season. He finished 12th in the 2020 United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSSA) Mideast Regional Championships, making a huge jump after finishing 30th in the same event a year prior.

A native of Goshen, N.Y., Hawkins led his Goshen Central HS team to a 2013 sectional championship and a spot in the New York State semifinals. As a competitive skier, he was a four-time section finalist. Hawkins is currently in the MBA program at AU.
