Jason Lockner was appointed head coach of men’s lacrosse at Alfred University in the prior to the 2006 season. He is the 10th Head Coach in AU men's lacrosse history. He came to AU from Alfred State College, where he served as Head Coach men’s lacrosse and soccer from 1997-2005.Â
Lockner is the winningest coach in AU men's lacrosse program history surpassing legendary Head Coach
Al Brown on the all-time wins list with his 86th win over the University of Dallas in 2018. Also during the 2018 season, Lockner led the Saxons to their first Empire 8 Conference Championship tournament in program history. Coach Lockner also reached his 100th win at AU with the final win of the 2019 season over Elmira College.
In nine seasons at Alfred State, Lockner guided the Pioneers to a 75-40 overall record. In each of the last seven seasons, Alfred State was nationally ranked among National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) teams. Between 2000 and 2005, the Pioneers posted at least 10 wins per season.Â
In 2001, Lockner was named NJCAA Region III and National Coach of the Year. He coached eight All- Americans and more than 20 All-Region III and Academic All-Americans during his tenure at Alfred State.
Lockner was an All-Region and All-American defenseman as well as an Academic All-American while playing at Corning Community College, where he earned an associate's degree in liberal arts in 1991. He transferred to SUNY Cortland, where he was a two-year starter and the team leader in ground balls. He earned a bachelor's degree in health science from Cortland in 1994 and a master's degree in education from Cortland in 2000.
Prior to taking the head coaching job at Alfred State, Lockner served as assistant men's lacrosse coach at Cortland from 1993-96. At Alfred State, he also served as men's soccer coach and a physical education instructor. Lockner was inducted into the Alfred State College 2022 Hall of Fame class.Â
