Alfred University Athletics

Adam Beam was hired as an assistant coach with the Alfred University men's basketball team in October, 2020. Beam handles recruiting, player development, video and graphic editing, as well as assisting head coach Erich Kaempffe with the daily operations of the basketball program. Beam has additionally taken on the role of being the head coach of the junior varsity men's basketball team. 

As part of the coaching staff with Alfred University, the men's basketball program reached the Empire 8 Semifinals during both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. The 2022-23 season in particular was a remarkable year for Beam and the Saxons, as Alfred University won 22 total games, marking the fourth time in program history the team has won 20 or more games in a single season. The historic run for AU included tying the program record with 14 conference victories along with their first ever ECAC Championship. 

Beam has specialized in player development with Alfred University, which has included the likes of Brewster Marshall '22 and Mike Schmidt '22. Both Marshall and Schmidt have been named as Empire 8 All-Conference talents following both the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. During Beam's tenure with Alfred University, the men's basketball program has had five total All-Conference honorees. 

Beam comes to the valley with a wealth of experience at a pair of Division I programs. For three seasons, he served as a Head Student Manager at his alma mater, Wright State University. During his time on the coaching staff, Wright State won the Horizon League in 2018 for the first time in 11 seasons and earned berths into the NIT Championships the last two seasons after winning the regular season title. Beam also spent time as a student manager for the University of Ohio Bobcats men’s basketball program for the 2016-17 season.
 
Outside of the college ranks, Beam served as the operations manager for the Hoop Group, a company dedicated to helping youth players develop and realize their dream of playing hoops in the next level. He recruited, hired, and supervised a camp staff, while also coaching basketball to the campers. He also served as the head runner and recruiting coordinator for the Hoop Group Elite program, bringing some of the best high school talent in the region together to showcase their talents.
 
Beam, a Dayton, Ohio native, earned a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from Wright State in May 2020.
