Scott Linn was appointed offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alfred University prior to the 2014 season, after having previously served as an assistant coach at AU during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.  An 11-year veteran of the college coaching ranks, Linn has developed 28 All-Conference selections, seven All-Region honorees, six All-Americans, and one CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American.
 
Throughout his tenure coaching at Alfred, the Saxons have possessed one of the most potent offenses in the region. In 2016, Linn led a record-breaking Saxon offense that was pivotal to AU’s historic 12-1 season and run to the NCAA national quarterfinals. The Saxons set new school records in total points (484), total yards (5,745) and rushing yards (2,842). AU led the Empire 8 Conference in eight offensive categories, including points per game and rushing yards per game.
 
Quarterback Tyler Johnson (D3football.com), as well as offensive linemen Sean Murphy (D3football.com), David Sylvester (D3football.com), and Kevin LaMarque (Hero Sports) were named All-Americans following the season. Linn, who in addition to coordinating the offense, also oversees the quarterbacks, was instrumental in the development of 2016 D3football.com East Region and Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Year Tyler Johnson, who set 14 school records during his career, including career total offensive yards (11,388), single-game passing yards (534) and career total touchdowns (115). During his senior campaign, Johnson was also named the NCAA statistical champion for points responsible for, leading the nation with 50 touchdowns.
 
Linn began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Albion (MI) College, where he played fullback for four seasons (2002-05). At Albion, he coached the tight ends and fullbacks during the 2006 campaign. Linn then came to Alfred University, where he coached the running backs for two years (2007-08). Under his tutelage, two Saxon tailbacks earned Empire 8 All-Conference recognition, with one, Vinson Hendrix, setting the school’s single-season rushing mark and earning D3football.com All-American honors in 2007. Linn was a member of the coaching staff that guided the Saxons to 4,983 yards of total offense in 2007, at the time a school single-season record. 
                 
From AU, Linn went to Hartwick College, where he served as an assistant from 2009-2013. He was the Hawks’ defensive line coach for two seasons (2009, 2010); the linebackers coach for one (2011); and assistant head coach for two (2012, 2013). During his tenure as Hartwick’s assistant head coach, he also served as special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach. His duties at Hartwick also included serving as recruiting coordinator, strength and conditioning coordinator and academic coordinator. 
                 
Linn earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education (minor in health) from Albion College in 2006. He earned a master’s degree in education from Alfred University in 2009. He has been a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) since 2007.Â
