Bob Margeson is in his 17th year as part-time assistant and is coaching special teams. A resident of Hornell, Margeson also coached tight ends for the Saxons from 1990-97 under former coach Jim Moretti. He also coached tight ends at Alfred State College from 1998-99.
Margeson led the Saxon special teams unit in 2017 that touted the Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Year in Trevor Monk who served as the kicker and punter for AU. Monk's year was highlighted by setting a new Empire 8 record for extra points made in a game (9) when the Saxons routed the Hartwick Hawks 63-21.
Margeson has coached some of the top kickers in AU history, including Monk and Eric Rockwood '11. Monk currently holds record in points scored in a season by kicking (89 in 2016), most field goals made in a game (4 vs RPI in 2016), most extra points made in a season (56 in 2016). He was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference Team three times. Rockwood holds AU records in points scored by kicking in a career (259), most field goals made in a game (4 vs. Hartwick in 2011), most extra points made in a season (56 in 2010), most extra points made in a career (169) and most consecutive extra points (50). He was a two-time Empire 8 All-Conference team member.
