ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team fell in a 4-3 loss to visiting SUNY Oneonta on Friday evening from the AU Tennis Courts.
The Saxons (0-1, 0-0 Empire 8) were swept in doubles to start the match down, 1-0 to the visiting Red Dragons (2-0, 0-0 SUNYAC). "This was a long, tough match and the box score doesn't reflect the momentum swings that occurred throughout the sets and the energy and grit that this team found within themselves and for each other," Interim Head Coach
Bob Cilino '13 said. "This was a great match to start on for us to know how hard we can work for what we want this year and I am very proud of them tonight. We are resting and refueling tonight for a trip to Utica in the morning! Go Saxons!"
Allison Windisch (Pittsford, NY/Sutherland) got the first team point for AU with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles over
Kiersten Rufrano, tying the match, 1-1. After a Red Dragon win at No. 1 singles, the Saxons tied the match again with a win at No. 3 singles.
