DOYLESTOWN, PA – The Alfred University dressage equestrian team opened its 2026-27 season with a fifth place finish on Sunday at Delaware Valley University.

Grace Bellis (Shortsville, NY/Red Jacket) led the way as she competed in the Introductory Level and finished second in the Dressage Test class and took first in Dressage Seat Equitation (DSE) to be named the Reserve High Point. The Dressage Test is a solo ride in the arena where the judge scores the horse's performance (as riders draw a random horse to ride) and the DSE is based on the rider's position while riders ride on the rail with other competitors.

Maggie Childs (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) also earned a blue ribbon on the day, riding in First Level and taking first in the DSE while finishing sixth in the Dressage Test.

Ryann McElroy (Roscoe, NY/Sullivan West) and Will Utzman (Fairport, NY/Fairport) both rode in Upper Training. McElroy took second in DSE and Utzman finished fourth. He also earned sixth play in the Dressage Test.

In Lower Training, Keira Sims (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) finished third in the DSE and Lily Coats (New Boston, NH/Goffstown) took fifth in the Test.

The Saxons will next host their Saxon-for-Saxon home show at the Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center at Maris Cuneo Equine Park on Sunday, October 4.
