ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's soccer team dropped a home match-up to the visiting Nazareth Golden Flyers 1-0 on Wednesday night.
It took just three minutes for Nazareth (4-1-0, 2-0-0 Empire 8) to get on the board after a scramble in the six-yard box found the back of the net. It was one of 12 shots the Golden Flyers directed at goal. Saxons goalkeeper
Tyler Mulholland (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) palmed away six total shots.
Alfred University (3-2-1, 1-1-1 Empire 8) had its best chance in the second half in the 60th minute when
Xavier Bowman (Hampstead, MD/Manchester Valley) drew a penalty kick. Unfortunately, his kick from 12 yards out was saved by the netminder to hold the lead.
AU kept getting opportunities, directing four shots at net but couldn't find an equalizer to draw back level.
The Saxons will next hit the road, facing Utica University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
