ALFRED, NY – The 2026 season-opener for the Alfred University field hockey team against SUNY Oneonta has been canceled.
 
The non-conference match-up that would have been the first official contest of the field hockey program's second season on Tuesday, September 1 has been canceled. This makes Monday, September 7's home game against Cedar Crest College now the season-opener. Cedar Crest and the Saxons will start at noon at Yunevich Stadium.
 
The match-up with SUNY Oneonta will not be made up later in the schedule.
