Women’s Lacrosse Drops Road Conference Game at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team fell in Empire 8 action on Wednesday evening on the road at SUNY Brockport, 16-3.
 
The Saxons (5-4, 2-2 Empire 8) were the first on the board when Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) scored less than two minutes in from the first whistle on a free position attempt. She tacked on a second score after the Golden Eagles (7-4, 3-1 Empire 8) scored the equalizer less than a minute of the first goal. Angelo's second goal was another solo effort score with just over eight minutes remaining in the first quarter.
 
Brockport took their first lead of the game with back-to-back goals and held the 3-2 lead until the final seconds of the quarter. Jessica Matson (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) made it a 3-3 tie as she scored with just three seconds on the clock.
 
The Golden Eagles scored seven goals in the second quarter, taking a 10-3 lead at half. The hosts continued in the second half with another two scores in the third and four in the fourth as three players had hat-tricks.
 
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) made 11 saves in goal. It is her second game of the season where she has made double-digit saves.
 
The Saxons will next host Hartwick College on Saturday, April 11 with a 1:00pm game start. Saturday's game is also their Morgan's Message game, where they will shed light on the importance of mental health.
