KEUKA PARK, NY – The Alfred University softball team swept Keuka College in an Empire 8 doubleheader on the road on Sunday.
The Saxons (22-12, 16-4 Empire 8) are now on a 10-game win streak, picked up the 6-2 opening win against the Wolves (6-23, 4-16 Empire 8) before winning the five-inning nightcap, 15-4.
Game One

The Wolves struck first in the bottom of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. AU tied the game up in the top of the fourth when
Ally Boulger (Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak) singled to bring home
Molly Whitmyer (Enola, PA/Trinity) and
Kendall Steward (Kennedy, NY/Randolph).
In the top of the sixth, Boulger earned her third RBI with a double that scored Steward. She later found her way home when
Brielle Wark (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) sent a shot out to right field to make it a 4-2 Saxon lead.
Steward doubled in the seventh inning to send
Bella Mistretta (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield Secondary) home, making it a 5-2 game. Boulger drove in her fourth run of the day with a single that send Steward home again, closing out the Saxon scoring. Both Boulger and Steward went 3-for-4 in the game. All three of Steward's hits were extra-base hits, recorded two doubles and one triple.
Ava Galvan (Santa Fe Springs, CA/Santa Fe) recorded the win inside of the pitching circle, recording four strikeouts.
Loretta Sorochty (Batavia, NY/Notre Dame Batavia) earned the save, coming in with runners at first and second, facing three batters.
Game Two – Five Innings

The Saxons put up the game's first runs in the top of the second with Boulger scoring on a
Taylor Carlson (Huntington Beach, CA/Huntington Beach) single and
Paris Guzman (Santa Fe Springs, CA/Santa Fe) scoring when Wark grounded out to third base. Keuka tied the game in the bottom of the frame.
AU put the game out of reach for the Wolves in the top of the fourth with eight runs. Carlson was the first to score when Wark hit a ball to third.
Samantha Wendig (Exton, PA/Downingtown East) scored on a
Samantha Vidal (Lake Worth, FL/Forest Hill) single. Wark, Vidal and Mistretta then all got home with a Whitmyer double, who later scored herself with yet another Steward double. Steward reached home with a sacrificed flyout by Carlson. The final run in the inning was scored when Boulger scurried home on a wild pitch for the 10-2 lead going into the fifth inning.
The Saxons added another five security runs in the top of what would be the final inning of the game. Galvan singled to bring home both Sorochty and Mistretta. Boulger doubled to bring home
Eileen Hein (Chicago, IL/Loyola Academy) and Steward. Boulger then scored on an error by the first base player, making it a 15-2 lead. Keuka put two more runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning but the Saxon defense closed out hopes of a comeback.
Steward picked up the win with eight strikeouts.
The Saxons will next travel to Penn State Behrend on Monday, April 27 for a 3:00pm and 5:00pm non-conference doubleheader.
