ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University women's lacrosse team celebrated its annual senior day in a 16-3 loss to Utica University at Yunevich Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Three seniors were honored for their accomplishments and time on the women's lacrosse team. Those three were
Megan Rinker (Le Roy, NY/Le Roy),
Kylee Bedette (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) and
Morgan Wise (Kittanning, PA/Armstrong).
AU first got on the board thanks to
Paige Stansfield (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) finding
Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) who put it into the back of the net in the third quarter. The Saxons kept scoring at the end of the fourth quarter thanks to its senior connections.
Jessica Matson (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) got the tally after being set up by Bedette. Finally, in the closing seconds, Rinker did it all herself to put one past the netminder.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) was the netminder for AU, recording three saves in 60 minutes of action.
One more home game is all that's left for the 2026 regular season for AU (5-7, 2-5 Empire 8) as they host SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday afternoon at 4PM.
