BRADFORD, PA – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team kept its winning streak alive with a 17-1 victory at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday.
The Saxons (4-2, 1-0 Empire 8) outscored the Panthers (6-4, 0-0 AMCC), 9-1, in the first half. AU held Pitt-Bradford scoreless in the second half while registering eight goals to come out on top.
Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) and Kylee Bedette (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) led the Saxons with four goals apiece. Bedette posted a career-high four assists while Angelo caused five turnovers and picked up five ground balls. Jordan Genant (Johns Creek, GA/Centennial), Paige Stansfield (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) and Morgan Wise (Kittanning, PA/Armstrong) had two goals apiece.
Cassidy Primrose (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) notched a career-high eight ground balls and two caused turnovers while scoring her first goal of the season. Megan Rinker (Le Roy, NY/Le Roy) and Harper Smith (Randolph, NY/Randolph) combined for eight draw controls.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) earned her 10th career win as the goalie for AU. The junior grabbed three saves in the net while notching a ground ball and a caused turnover.
The Saxons outshot the Panthers, 34-7, with 20-4 in between the pipes.
"We put together a complete game today and it's been fun watching the team's confidence grow," Interim Head Coach Erin Schurr said. "Once again, our defense held it down for us and the chemistry on offense was evident. Ready to get back into conference play on Wednesday."
AU next travels to Keuka College for an E8 matchup on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
