ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team put on a clinical performance, stifling Elmira College in a decisive 18-0 shutout on Monday.
The shutout against the Soaring Eagles (0-6) marks the fourth in program history for the Saxons (3-2, 1-0 Empire 8) and the first since 2024 when they defeated Hilbert College, 19-0.
Prior to the game, AU celebrated Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night. Members of the team honored specific mentors of theirs for their ongoing success off the field.
Jordan Genant (Johns Creek, GA/Centennial) had another career day as she tallied a season-high 10 points on three goals and a season-high seven assists.
Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) posted a game-high five goals and added two assists for seven points. She also added four ground balls and three caused turnovers to her stat line.
Lauren Sfeir (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the defense with a career-high seven caused turnovers while matching her career-high six ground balls and winning four draw controls.
Megan Rinker (Le Roy, NY/Le Roy) won a team-high five draw controls while registering four caused turnovers, three ground balls and a goal.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) earned her first individual career shutout as a goalie. The junior finished the day with two saves, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
The Saxons outshot the Soaring Eagles, 46-3 overall, with 31-1 in goal.
"Today was a great team win," Interim Head Coach
Erin Schurr said. "We executed well on offense and our defense locked things down for us. We're going to continue working hard and look forward to hitting the road again Saturday."
The Saxons will next travel to take on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
