HILTON HEAD, SC – The Alfred University women's tennis team earned a sweeping 7-0 victory over Curry College during its second match of spring break on Wednesday.

"Another dominant performance from the team today," Head Coach Jake Fisler said. "This is a group that is obsessed with the process of getting better every day, and their buy-in to the program is evident with results like this."

Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Education Complex #143) and Alyssa Seegert (Oroville, CA/Las Plumas) earned the first doubles win for the Saxons (13-5, 5-3 Empire 8). The pair won at the No. 1 position by a score of 6-0. The victory marked the 34th overall for Zabihailo, breaking the program record and surpassing the previous number of 33 that was held by Brennan Ferguson '14. 

Allison Windisch (Pittsford, NY/Sutherland) and Alexis Gits (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) also took a 6-0 win at No. 2. Anastasia Shaw (Orange County, NY/Washingtonville) and Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) registered a 6-1 victory at No. 3 to put AU on top, 1-0. The doubles victory marked the 15th career overall for Epping.

The Saxons swept all six matches in straight sets during singles. Seegert posted her 10th career victory at No. 2 against the Colonels (0-13, 0-10 CNE).

AU will next play Franciscan University on Thursday at 10:00 AM.
