ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team defeated Nazareth University on the road on Friday afternoon, 228-36 to open the new year while winning every single event.
"It was good to get back into competition mode today," Head Coach
Brian Striker '00 said. "The divers were consistent and there was a noticeable improvement in their lists; the scores where solid. It is hard to gauge swimming times, as we only swim short course meters at Nazareth every other year, but I thought we looked great. We have a couple hard meets next week, so it was nice to see that we are starting this semester off on a good note!"
Youssef amr Abdallatif (Cairo, Egypt/Raya Language School) led the way by earning yet another pool record at opponents' campuses. He clocked a time of 56.85 in the 100-meter backstroke en route to a victory. It was one of four wins on the day as he began the afternoon swimming the backstroke leg of the 200-meter medley relay. He clocked a time of 26.75 in the leadoff position, over five seconds faster than all other backstroke swimmers in the event. Abdallatif was joined by
