ROCHESTER, NY - The Alfred University men's basketball team returned to Empire 8 action with a 67-49 loss to St. John Fisher on Tuesday evening. 

Zion Baitey (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) led Alfred University with a team-high 12 points to go with three assists and a pair of rebounds. Tyler Curran (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) finished the game with 10 points along with three steals on the defensive end. Tyler Hind (Randolph, NY/Randolph) added eight points for AU. 

A layup by Baitey opened scoring for the Saxons in the first half. An 18-0 run by the Cardinals forced the Saxons to play from behind. Franlys Valenzuela (Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic/San Ysidro) and Andria Siamashvili (Belgrade, Serbia Rabun Gap Cacoochee School) each added four points in the half, but AU trailed 39-15 going into the break. In the second half, Alfred University was led by the efforts of Baitey, who contributed with a team-high 10 points. Curran additionally registered seven points, but the scoring efforts of St. John Fisher led to the eventual win. 

Alfred University will next host SUNY Poly on Friday night at 7:30 PM.
