GENESEO, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team was defeated by SUNY Geneseo in an Empire 8 dual-meet on Wednesday evening, 190-108.
The Saxons are now just one of three teams to score over 100 points against now 8-0 Geneseo on the season.
Andre Ayala (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria No°5) and
Carlos Gonzalez (Baja California, Mexico/Unifront) tied for the most individual wins. Ayala swam a 1:44.83 for the win in the 200-yard freestyle. Ayala then won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:56.68, beating out the second place time of 2:05.34. He ended his individual efforts with a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a 4:47.67, besting the second place time of 4:56.67 from Geneseo. Gonzalez won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:05.05. He followed that with a 2:10.23 victory in the 200-yard breaststroke. Gonzalez ended his evening with a time of 2:00.19 to win the 200-yard individual medley.
Youssef amr Abdallatif (Cairo, Egypt/Raya Language School) swept both backstroke events, winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.61 and then clocking a final time of 1:52.26 in the 200. Both of his times are SUNY Geneseo Alumni Pool records.
The Saxons will next travel to Hartwick College on Saturday, January 17 for a 1:00pm start.
