ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Jaidyn Chest (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) was named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Monday's announcement was Chest's third honor of the year, having earned Empire 8 Co-Player of the Week two times in the fall semester.
 
Chest averaged 23.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 3.0 steals per game in AU's three contests. The highlight of the week for the junior was breaking the school record for most points scored with a career-high 38 during the overtime victory over Utica on Saturday. Chest surpassed the previous record of 35 set by Christie Hayes '98 and Amy Ratchuk '02. She shot a career-high 15-of-26 from the field, along with 5-of-9 at the 3-point line and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. In addition, Chest played a key role on defense as she notched a season-high five steals. In the previous two contests, she led with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists during the Saxons' hard-fought loss at St. John Fisher on Tuesday. On Friday against SUNY Poly, after a scoreless first half, Chest rallied with a team-high 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead AU to its first E8 win of the season.
 
Chest was joined by Youssef amr Abdallatif (Cairo, Egypt/Raya Language School) as the Empire 8 Men's Swimmer of the Week and Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) as the E8 Women's Swimmer of the Week. Chest and Abdallatif were also named Saxons of the Week on Monday.
