Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) was named the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Epping began her season with a combined 4-0 win streak between singles and doubles as she helped the Saxons go 2-0 at home for the week. She won over Fredonia's
Gabriella Farr at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 to clinch the match before she claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 3 over Mount Aloysius's
Julia Davis on Friday. Epping teamed with
Elizabeth Madsen (Portland, OR/Grant) at No. 1 doubles for a 6-1 win over Fredonia's
Lucy Prevet and
Allison Bartoszek on Wednesday. She then teamed with
Camryn Moore (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh Central) at No. 3 doubles on Friday, earning the first win towards the doubles point over Aloysius's
Amelia Miller and
Emily Hinch on Friday, winning the match-up, 6-0.
Epping was joined by
Lina Young (North Collins, NY/North Collins) as the Empire 8 Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday as well as
Thomas Welch (Avon, NY/Avon) as an Empire 8 Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
