ALLENTOWN, PA – The Alfred University field hockey team ended its week with a 6-0 loss at Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons (0-4, 0-0 Empire 8) gave up three goals in each half as the Falcons (2-2, 0-0 UEC) fired off a total of 25 shots with 18 on goal.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) reached a new program milestone for saves in a single game, recording nine in the first half.
Julia Fournier (Arundel, ME/Thornton Academy) recorded Alfred University's first ever defensive save on Saturday as well.
SadieLyn Combs (Harpursville, NY/Harpursville) added two saves in the second half.
It wasn't until the second half that AU was able to record a shot as
Valérie Borg du Prie (Brussels, Belgium/European School Ixelles) put a shot on goal. Cedar Crest had a total of 12 penalty corner opportunities with three goals being results of the corners.
The Saxons will play one more non-conference game before Empire 8 play begins as they take on SUNY Oneonta on the road at 12:00pm on Saturday, September 13. Afterwards, they open E8 action with yet another road trip, this time to Nazareth University on Tuesday, September 23 for a 5:00pm game start.
