ONEONTA, NY -- The Alfred University field hockey team dropped a 7-0 loss to SUNY Oneonta on Saturday.
The Saxons (0-5, 0-0 Empire 8) gave up five goals in the first half and another two in the second half but held the Red Dragons (5-1, 0-0 SUNYAC) scoreless in the third quarter.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) made seven saves in goal in the first half of play while
SadieLyn Combs (Harpursville, NY/Harpursville) made five saves in the second half.
Mika Larrison (Centereach, NY/Centereach) also recorded a defensive save on the day.
The Saxons faced a total of 17 penalty corners and 23 total shots (20 on goal). Oneonta committed 44 fouls while AU only committed 11.
The Saxons will next open Empire 8 play with another road trip. This time, heading to Nazareth University on Tuesday, September 23 for a 5:00pm start.
