Women's Tennis Picks Up Second Straight Win Over Mount Aloysius

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's team picked up their second consecutive home win as part of a 6-1 effort against Mount Aloysius on Friday afternoon from the Alfred Tennis Courts.

"The team did a great job as a group of battling the elements with 35mph winds and supporting one another throughout a difficult match," Head Coach Jake Fisler said. "Some highlights of the day were Becca's convincing victories in doubles and singles, as well as first-years Camryn, Alexis and Anastasia each adding to their win total. We are looking forward to our next match and can't wait to keep the undefeated streak at home alive!"

The Saxons began the afternoon with a successful effort from doubles play, as Camryn Moore (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh Central) and Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) picked up a clean 6-0 victory from the No. 3 position. Alfred University claimed the point from doubles thanks to a competitive tiebreaker from Alexis Gits (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) and Allison Windisch (Pittsford, NY/Sutherland) win from No. 2.

Windisch continued her impressive afternoon with a 6-2, 6-3 victory from No. 4 to open singles action. Epping remained unbeaten for AU, recording a 6-1, 6-3 win from No. 3. Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) made her season debut from the top of the lineup, winning across three sets. Victories from Gits and Anastasia Shaw (Orange County, NY/Washingtonville) were enough to round out the afternoon, as Alfred University walked away with the win.

Alfred University will next compete on the road at Lycoming College next Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
