ONEONTA, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team (5-2, 2-1 Empire 8) fell to the Empire 8 defending champion, Hartwick College (5-1, 2-0 Empire 8), by a score of 7-0 on Saturday.
"It's hard not to feel like we left something out on the court today," Head Coach Jake Fisler said. "All credit to Hartwick. They proved why they are the defending champs. We have a big week ahead of us and will take what we can from this and look to get back on track as we take on SUNY Cortland at home."
In terms of highlights, Alexis Gits (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) played a competitive second set at No. 6 singles, contributing five points in a two-point loss.
The Saxons return home to host SUNY Cortland on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 3:00 PM.
