BEAVER FALLS, PA - The Alfred University women's soccer picked up their first road win of the season following a competitive 1-0 performance against Geneva College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Saxons (2-1-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) totaled 18 shots as part of the victory, with eight being on target. The Tornadoes (1-1-1, 0-0-0 PAC) were held without a single corner kick opportunity.
Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) totaled four saves for Alfred University in a shutout effort. Barnard-Pratt clinched her 23rd career shutout on Tuesday, passing
Julie Francis '92 for the program record.
Lina Young (North Collins, NY/North Collins) scored her first goal of the fall season.
Ava Thayer (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) led AU with a team-high six shots, three of which were on goal.

The Saxons put across four shot attempts inside the first 15 minutes of action. Meanwhile, the Tornadoes lone shot on goal in the first half came in the 4th minute. Both
Sidney Khuns (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) and
Megan Rinker (Le Roy, NY/Le Roy) were credited with shots on goal in the final 10 minutes of the half, but both sides went into halftime with a scoreless contest.
Alfred University was aggressive once again to begin the second half, attempting four consecutive shots before Geneva attempted their first shot of the half. In the 73rd minute, a contested shot by Young found its way into the right side of the net, as the Saxons took the go-ahead lead. Barnard-Pratt stepped up for AU, recording a pair of saves in the final 10 minutes of regulation before coming away with the shutout win.
Alfred University will next remain on the road to take on Hilbert College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
