ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team wrapped up the weekend at home with another Empire 8 win against Utica University, 7-0, on Sunday.

The Saxons (5-1, 2-0 Empire 8) began doubles with 6-0 wins from Allison Windisch (Pittsford, NY/Sutherland) and
Camryn Moore (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh Central) at No. 3 followed by
Alyssa Seegert (Oroville, CA/Las Plumas) and
Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) at No. 2.
Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) and
Elizabeth Madsen (Portland, OR/Grant) secured the winning point with a 6-2 victory at No. 1.
Building on the success in doubles, Madsen secured her 20th career doubles win. Both Epping and Windisch registered their 10th.
Madsen won at No. 2 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Zabihailo took the No. 1 position at 6-2, 6-1, while Epping sealed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Seegert (No. 3) and Windisch (No. 5) both won their respective singles matches at 6-1, 6-1. Alexis Gits (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) notched her first ever E8 win at No. 6 by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The Saxons will hit the road to Hartwick College on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1:00 PM.
