Wolf Scores Twice, Barnard-Pratt Ties Program Record as AU Defeats Chatham

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team recorded their first victory of the fall season with a 2-0 performance against Chatham University on Saturday from Merrill Field.

The Saxons (1-1-0, 0-0-0 Empire 8) finished the game with 12 shots, with seven of them being on goal against the Cougars (0-1-0, 0-0-0 PAC).

Zoey Wolf (Holley, NY/Holley) recorded two goals for Alfred University. Abby Scanlan (Albion, NY/Charles D'Amico) was responsible for a pair of assists. Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) picked up four saves in goal for AU, marking her 22nd career shutout with the women's soccer program. With her efforts with Alfred University, Barnard-Pratt has now tied Julie Francis '92 for the most career shutouts in program history.

"Congrats to Kiani for tying the school record for shutouts," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "We are proud of the way the team bounced back from yesterday to get a result today."

The Saxons came out firing in the opening half, recording three shots within the first six minutes of action. In the 8th minute, a corner kick from Scanlan found its way to Wolf for the initial lead. The defense stood tall throughout the contest, surrendering just one shot on goal across the first 30 minutes. Barnard-Pratt recorded three saves for the Saxons in the first half before the team took a 1-0 lead going into the break.

The second half held a similar tune for Alfred University, as Scanlan once again found Wolf during a corner kick situation in the 57th minute to extend the advantage. The Cougars attempted seven shots in the final half of regulation, but only one was on target as the Saxons were able to walk away with their first win of the 2025 season.

Alfred University will next compete on the road at Geneva College (Pa.) on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
