ALFRED, NY – Seven members of the Alfred University women's rugby team earned recognition as members of the 2024-25 National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Women's Scholastic All-Americans team.
Becca Amdur-Kass (Potomac, MD/Bethesda Chevy Chase),
Allison Parnes (New Hyde Park, NY/Homeschool),
April Pratt (Savona, NY/Campbell-Savona),
Cori Recktenwald (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post),
Gianna Sapienza (Crown Point, IN/Crown Point),
Amelia Ren Vermeer (Des Moines, IA/Theordore Roosevelt) and
Jordayn Williams (Palmdale, CA/Quartz Hill) each were listed on NCR's All-American Team.
The Scholastic All-American program annually recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom. To qualify, athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA or higher for the academic year and be rostered for at least 50% of the A-side matches during either the Fall 15s or Spring 7s seasons. Representing roughly 1-in-20 college rugby players, this group reflects the academic dedication and athletic commitment that define collegiate rugby at its best.
"We are incredibly proud of this Scholastic All-American class who embody the student-athlete experience here at AU, excelling in the classroom and on the pitch," Director of Rugby/Head Coach
Dr. Nicole Bernsen said.
The NCR named 1,284 student-athletes to the 2024-25 listing, increasing from last year's 1,060 recipients.
