ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team continued their spring season with an 18-3 loss to Brockport on Wednesday evening from Yunevich Stadium.

Paige Stansfield (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) and Kylee Bedette (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) each recorded two points from a goal and an assist. Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) tallied one goal for AU.

"We know games like this are helping us improve," Head Coach Julie Decker said. "We are going to learn from this, continue to learn and make improvements, and focus our sights on our next opponent."

Brockport (4-7, 3-1 Empire 8) scored during the first minute of action during a free position attempt. Alfred University (5-6, 2-2 Empire 8) responded moments later after a goal from Bedette put the Saxons on the scoreboard. The Golden Eagles scored six consecutive goals before taking a 7-1 lead into the second quarter. Brockport added four additional goals in the second quarter before entering halftime with a 11-1 advantage.

The Saxons gathered some offensive momentum in the early moments of the third quarter, as Angelo registered her fourth goal of the season. The final goal for Alfred University belonged to Stansfield, who scored at the 4:26 mark of the third quarter. Brockport relied on seven goals of their own in the final half of regulation before coming away with the win.

Alfred University will next travel to face Hartwick College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
