RICHMOND, VA -- The Alfred University men's rugby team continued its spring season over the weekend in Richmond for the 7s tournament.
"We played some tough competition," Head Coach
Dale Russell said. "We've got a lot of experience as we continue to develop in our first year."
AU drew a tough draw in pool play, playing against the defending national champions Slippery Rock and then the US Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA). They were settled in respective 40-0 and 50-0 scores.
In the last match of the day Saturday against Radford University, the Saxons got on the board with a try from
Nathan Towne (Ellenville, NY/Ellenville Jr./Sr.).
Edward Hart IV (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) followed suit with another try to wrap up the day with a 36-10 loss.
Only one more regular season tournament remains for Alfred University hosted by Niagara University on Sunday, April 6.
