Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) picked up six saves for AU.

"We're thrilled to have picked up a conference win and first-ever program win against Russell Sage," Head Coach Julie Decker said. "We talked about starting the game with good energy, taking care of all the little details, outworking them, and playing smarter. We really wanted this one after a close game with them last year. We definitley went out and executed our game plan and proved that today we were the better team."

The Saxons set the tone on the offensive end early in the first quarter, with Morgan Wise (Kittanning, PA/Armstrong) finding the back of the net within the first minute of action. Moments later, Rinker registered her first goal of the afternoon for AU. The Saxons relied on goals from Stansfield and Amelia Booth (Staatsburg, NY/FDR) to extend their lead. Rinker scored twice in the final three minutes of the quarter, as Alfred University entered the second quarter with a 6-0 advantage.

Rinker continued to find success in the second quarter, scoring at the 12:41 mark. During a man-down situation, Booth managed to find the back of the net for AU. The Gators scored back-to-back goals, but the Saxons relied on scoring efforts from Rinker and Wise to equalize the damage. Russell Sage scored once more in the closing minute of the half, but a late goal from Bedette had Alfred University leading 11-3 going into the break.

At the 6:18 mark of the third quarter, Priebe recorded her eighth goal of the spring season. Later in the quarter, Priebe dished an assist to Cassidy Primrose (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker). Roughly a minute later, Bedette recorded her second goal of the afternoon, as AU led 14-3 with one quarter remaining. The Gators scored each of the first three goals of the final quarter, but a late goal from Rinker from enough for Alfred University to come away with the win.
