ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University swimming & diving team hosted the Alfred University Diving Invitational with five different schools taking part.
"We had the pleasure of hosting our first Alfred Diving Invitational today," Diving Coach
Victoria Cramp '20 said. "Both the mens and women's teams performed well today while prepping for Champs with new dives. We are excited to see how everyone performs at Champs after the success we had today!
Five divers took part for the Saxons on Saturday afternoon. In the men's 1-meter dive,
Jaxson McQuaid (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) led the way with a podium finish and a score of 399.05.
Ryan Way (Penfield, NY/Penfield) took home the other third-place result in the men's 3-meter dive with a score of 356.95.
Oleh Zhuk (Lviv, Ukraine/Shawnee High School) and
Jordan Annlee (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) wrapped up the men's scores in the invitational, with scores of 286.30 and 237.40 respectively in the 1-meter.
Ruby Kavanagh (Queens, NY/LaGuardia High School of Music & Art) was the lone participant for the women's team for the Saxons. She finished sixth in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with respective tallies of 306.20 and 307.45.
The divers will now prepare with the rest of their squad for the upcoming Empire 8 Championships, starting on Wednesday, February 19.
