MORRISVILLE, NY – The Alfred University field hockey team fell in non-conference action on Monday evening, dropping a 9-0 decision at SUNY Morrisville.
The Saxons (0-10, 0-4 Empire 8) and the Mustangs (3-6, 0-2 SUNYAC) went into the half with a Morrisville lead of 3-0 before the scoring opened up in the third quarter. The hosts put four more on the board in the third and another two in the fourth.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) totaled 16 saves in goal. The Saxon defense faced 19 penalty corners while AU was able to set up for three on the offensive side of the field.
AU showed offensive push as they totaled five shots with four on goal.
Victoria Hladik (Rotterdam, NY/Mohonasen) finished the evening with three shots with two aimed at the cage.
Mika Larrison (Centereach, NY/Centereach) and
Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) each had a shot on goal as well.
The Saxons will next host St. John Fisher University in Empire 8 action on Wednesday, October 8 at 5:00pm.
