ELMIRA, NY -- The Alfred University men's soccer team returned to Empire 8 action on the road against Elmira College in a 3-0 loss on Saturday afternoon.

"We have a ton of soccer left to play," Head Coach Garret Eldridge said. "There is no quit in this team."

Alfred fell behind after five minutes of action, and played from behind from there on out. A rotated lineup saw seven different Saxons combine for 10 shots. Hamza Kromah (Margibi, Liberia/Western Reserve Academy) had three of those shots.

Off the bench, Niko Lampros (Lake Oswego, OR/Lakeridge) had two shots in 80 minutes of action. AJ Giaquinto (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), Landon Berry (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yann Academy), and Juan Jose Menendez Gutierrez (Villanueva Cañada, Madrid, Spain/Woodstock Academy) joined him the same feat with 47, 50, and 67 minutes respectively.

Jesus De La Torre (Malaga, Spain/The Woodstock Academy) and Dennis Hayes V (Ferndale, MI/Berkley) combined for the last two shots of the match against Elmira. Alfred also had a season-high 10 corner kicks. The Soaring Eagles tacked on their final two goals in the 25th and 85th minute as AU pushed to get back into the match to no avail.

Alfred University (4-6-1, 2-3-1 Empire 8) will next celebrate senior day at home against Utica University on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m.
