ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University women's soccer team came up short in a 2-1 loss to Hartwick College on Saturday evening from Yunevich Stadium.
Prior to the game, Alfred University Women's Soccer honored their graduating class as part of Senior Night.
Isabelle Dennis (Livonia, NY/Livonia) scored her third career goal and the first of the fall season.
Sidney Khuns (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) was credited with four shot attempts.
"I want to give a big thank you to our senior class," Head Coach
Craig Yanni. said. "Their hard work and dedication to our program has meant a lot over the years. We are looking forward to preparing for Poly this upcoming Wednesday."
The Saxons were aggressive to begin the opening half, earning a corner kick and a pair of shot attempts inside the first seven minutes of action. Hartwick answered with their first goal of the evening during the 10
th minute. A superb corner kick from Dennis in the 40th minute found its way deflected into the back of the net, as AU equalized the game before going into the break.
The Hawks needed just two minutes in the second half to take back the advantage. Young was the first Saxon in the final half to record a shot on goal during the 57
th minute. Alfred University had opportunities in the offensive third to close out the game, but couldn't convert before time expired.
Alfred University will next host SUNY Poly in their regular season finale on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
