ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's swimming & diving team defeated visiting NCAA Division II opponent, Roberts Wesleyan University, 170-121 on Wednesday evening from the McLane Natatorium.
 
"It was another great showing for the Saxons this evening!  There were some great things for us to be excited about as we continue to look great both in our swimming events and our diving," Head Coach 
Brian Striker '00 said. "We had many in-season best performances tonight. I have been thoroughly impressed with the effort we have been putting forth every day. That was my first time competing against Roberts Wesleyan, it was a fun meet – great swimming and diving on both sides. We have a quick turnaround as we need to get ready for Brockport on Saturday…so back in the water in the morning."
 
The Saxons posted 11 winning times and picked up win by a disqualification. AU started the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of 
Courtney Cherricks (Chincoteague, VA/Big Spring), Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area), Kyra Harry (Garborone, Botswana/Enko Botho) and 
Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) combined for a time of 1:59.14 for the win.
 
Harry and Share would each go on to end the evening with four total wins each. Harry swept the sprint free events, clocking a 26.51 in the 50 and a 57.04 in the 100. She later won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.67. Share swept the backstroke events with a time of 1:00.23 in the 100 and a time of 2:11.90 in the 200. Her 100-back time is yet another pool record, breaking her time from Friday's meet against RIT. Share's last victory was during the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:17.78.
 
Olivia Richeda (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell), Anderegg and 
Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) each had two victories on the evening. Both of Richeda's victories were during individual events, winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:15.43 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:42.80. Anderegg and Simmons each picked up solo wins. Anderegg won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.33 while Simmons won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:24.31.
 
Anderegg and Simmons were joined by 
Mariam Kiragu (Gaborone, Botswana/Legae Academy) and Cherricks in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The A-team for Roberts Wesleyan was the first to reach the final wall but were disqualified, making the Saxons' time of 1:52.05 the top time.
 
The Saxons will next face their first Empire 8 opponent with a road trip to SUNY Brockport on Saturday, October 25 for a 1:00pm meet.
