ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's soccer team competed in their final away game of the regular season, enduring a 2-0 loss against SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon.

"It was an unfortunate result today," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "We will look to regroup for our final two outings of the regular season."

The Saxons (6-8-2, 2-5-2 Empire 8) were forced to play from behind early after the Knights (4-4-6, 4-1-3 Empire 8) scored in the 5th minute of the opening half. Abby Scanlan (Albion, NY/Charles D'Amico) and Alex Ruzekowicz (Westvale, NY/West Genesee) were the lone members of AU to attempt a shot, but the Saxons went into halftime with a 1-0 deficit. The defense for Alfred University successfully defended six consecutive shots against Geneseo to begin the second half, but a goal for the Knights in the 68th minute extended the advantage. Scanlan attempted one additional shot for Alfred University, but the team couldn't get on the scoreboard before the end of regulation.

Alfred University will next host Hartwick College next Saturday at 7:00 PM. Prior to the game, Alfred University Women's Soccer will celebrate Senior Night.
