KEUKA PARK, NY -- The Alfred University field hockey team fell on the road at Keuka College in Empire 8 action, 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Annie Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored the Saxons' (0-14, 0-8 Empire 8) first ever in-conference goal when Valérie Borg du Prie (Brussels, Belgium/European School Ixelles) passed her the ball in the 18th minute of play, recording the day's first score as the Saxons had their first ever game lead, 1-0. The Wolves (1-12, 1-5 Empire 8) scored the next three goals to take the lead and close out the home win and end a 14-game losing streak.
Borg du Prie added one shot on the afternoon.
Molly Howlett (Brockport, NY/Brockport) made five saves in goal while
Julia Fournier (Arundel, ME/Thornton Academy) added a defensive save.
Keuka totaled 14 penalty corners and 25 shots while AU had one corner and two shots.
The Saxons will next host Division II D'Youville University on Monday, October 20 at 4:00pm.
