ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University men's basketball team wrapped up their weekend with a 66-47 win over Keuka College on Saturday from the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.

The Saxons (7-6, 3-1 Empire 8) won the rebound battle in 40-25 fashion, while holding the the Wolves (3-8, 0-3 Empire 8) to just five successful 3-point shots as part of their winning efforts.

Tyler Hind (Randolph, NY/Randolph) led Alfred University with his first collegiate double-double consisting of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Amoi Charles (Elmont, NY/H. Frank Carey) totaled 16 points and four rebounds. Robby Hicks (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) added 15 points off the bench for AU.

"Awesome job by our guys this week," Head Coach Erich Kaempffe said. "Three big conference wins. They did a great job with preparation and execution and won three very different games. We have a long way to go, however, and will get back to work on Monday after some well-deserved rest."

The defense for the Saxons set the tone in the early stages of the opening half, limiting the Wolves to just two points across the first five minutes of action. On the offensive end, deep shots from Charles and Hind gave AU their initial lead. Moments later, a layup by Oscar Wolter (Munich, Germany/Lycee Jean Renoir) was followed by a shot from beyond the arc by Hind to extend the advantage to double-digit figures. The defense surrendered just three points across the final five minutes of the first half before the team went into halftime with a 31-20 lead.

Tyler Curran (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) added five early points in the second half to extend the advantage for AU. Baskets by Charles and Hicks had the Saxons leading by as many as 21 points with under five minutes to play. Gennaro Picco (Hornell, NY/Hornell) scored his first collegiate based from 3-point territory in the closing stages for the Saxons before coming away with the win.

Alfred University will next travel to face SUNY Poly on Friday at 7:30 PM.
