BROCKPORT, NY - The Alfred University women's tennis team wrapped up their weekend with a 5-2 loss to SUNY Brockport. 

Two singles matches for the Saxons did not finish, due to weather. 

"We definitely underestimated Brockport and they made us pay for that," Head Coach Jake Fisler said. "We fought hard in doubles, but didn't translate that into singles. We learned what we can from that and will continue to improve."

Alfred University won two of their three matchups from doubles play, as Claire Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville, Chili) was joined by Averill Hollond (Linwood, KS/Basehor-Linwood) from No. 3 as part of an 8-3 win. Alyssa Seegert (Oroville, CA/Las Plumas) and Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) closed out doubles from No. 2 with an 8-3 win of their own. The Saxons showed resilience in singles action, with Hollond each forcing a third set from No. 6. . 

Alfred University will next travel to face Nazareth University on Friday at 4:00 PM.
